Who is your customer? Describe them in five questions
The better you know who your customer is, the better your ad speaks to them. You don’t need a marketing plan for it, just five honest answers.
The AdSweet teamFor every business1. Who already buys from you?
Think of your ten best customers. How old are they roughly, where do they live, what do they buy? Your best customers today are the best clue for your customers of tomorrow.
2. What problem do you solve for them?
Nobody buys a drill, they buy a hole in the wall. What does your customer really want? A gift that makes an impression, a roof that no longer leaks, an hour for themselves.
3. Why do they hesitate?
Too expensive, no time, never heard of you, afraid it will disappoint. Every doubt is a chance for an ad: a review, a guarantee, a video that shows how it works.
4. Where and when do they buy?
For a local business: how far will your customers travel? For an online shop: do they mostly buy in the evening, at the weekend, around the holidays? That decides where and when you advertise.
5. What words do they use?
Read your reviews, your emails and the questions you get. The words your customers use are the best words for your ads.
Frequently asked questions
Do I have to choose a narrow audience in Meta?
Often not. For many businesses a broad audience with a clear ad works better than a narrow audience with a vague ad. For a local business you do choose a radius around your business.
What if I have several kinds of customers?
Then make a separate ad for each kind of customer, with its own image and text. That way each ad speaks to one group.
